Burn Damage Interview

.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album? We've been on rehearsals, giving some concerts and taking care of our booking agenda .

.In 2016 you had released a full length, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past? Since "Reborn" we've noticed a clear evolution in our type of sound. Not only in the music itself, but also in the recording process. There's more maturity and work on it.

.The band has been around since 2008 but so far had only released an ep and a full length, can you tell us a little bit more about the gap in between releases? In 2015, long time after lots of concerts and composing process, Nuno and Silvia quit the band due to personal reasons and two months later Ivo (guitar) and Rui (bass) joined Burn Damage. In early 2016 the band went into the Ultrasound Studios Moita to record the debut album called "Age Of Vultures" which was released in Portugal in November 2016 and worldwide on January 17th 2017 by RagingPlanet label.

.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music? The main topics are about contemporary subjects such as the global warming, war and the social and political degradation, there are many authors quoted if you take a closer look, like Nietszche, Plato and Orwell. Age of vultures is like the turning page to the dawn of new era, emerged from a world in ashes.

.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Burn Damage? I suppose you are familiared with the terrible pratice of marking animals with burning iron, aren't you? Well... The meaning behind our name is kinda related to that, in a meaning of marking. Wherever we go, even if people like our music or not, they never forget us.

.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance? Every single one has its moments but everytime we play at RCA in Lisbon is an hell of a party, maybe the best one we've ever had was there at the Female Growlers United Front Fest! Our stage performance is frenetic, full of power and positive vibes! We love when people "dance" along with us!

.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album? We are still working on that, but for now we have some shows lined up in April and May, starting with the iconic Moita Metal Fest with Sodom and many other great portuguese bands. We are lining up some more shows for the rest of the year.

.The new album was released on 'Raging Planet Records, can you tell us a little bit more about this label? Is one of the oldest music labels in Portugal, managed by  Daniel Makosch. Is a label with a rare diversity in terms of musical types, but that works very hard to help them and reach their needs!

.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of death, groove and thrash metal? So far it has been very positive! Of course we can't please everyone and that reflects on some reviews. But overall we have been receiving a very good feedback from fans and webzines. But we did found a pattern on some reviews that are not giving much focus on our message. InĂªs is an excellent writer and our lyrics are part of what Burn Damage is, we try to bring awareness to some important issues of our society... So go read them!

.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects  these days? Yes, our drummer and former member Alex has a trance project called Future Monkeys! For those who have an opened mind and like that sort of music should check them!

.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future? We'd like to promote our album all over our country and we're also planning to reach some places in Europe. Who knows one day we'll here the name Burn Damage all over the world!

.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays? Alittle bit of everything... Death, groove and doom core are our main influences in  terms of metal styles. We have many bands that also mean a lot to us and have their influence as Deicide, Slayer, Converge, Gojira, Machine Head, Lamb of God

.What are some of your non musical interests?Well... I guess all of us love to sit down a bit and chill with friends along with good beer and wine. Personally, I love to read and explore another kinds of art such as dance and photography

.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
We encourage everyone to give a listen to our Metal scene, its rich, heavy and all done with the utmost passion. We do believe that in some years it will become on
